The Henry Ford Health System founded in 1915 as the Henry Ford Hospital has grown into one of the nation’s largest health care systems. Since its inception the Henry Ford System has as its core a select group of full time physicians dedicated to patient care, research and the improvement of health care for all people. The Division of Nephrology founded in 1970, has from its inception been a national leader in the delivery and improvement of care for patients with kidney disease.

The Division provides these services in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Outpatient capabilities include:

  • Multiple dialysis units providing care for over 1000 patients. These units provide state-of-the-art dialysis care hemo and peritoneal dialysis equipped with the latest technology to better serve our patients. Each unit prides itself in caring for the whole patient providing a wide array of ancillary services such as physical and occupational therapy, dietary guidance spiritual support along with one of the nation’s best access surgical departments.

  • Transplantation evaluation and follow-up is encouraged within the same health care system for superior continuity of care. The transplant program, among the nation’s oldest, has an excellent reputation and is equipped to deal with patients with special needs.
